There are several free online citation generators that will make your Works Cited or Reference pages for you. Beware that these do not always format your sources correctly (there is a reason they are free). If you choose to use one of these tools, use the tabs at the top of the screen to check that they are correct before submitting your assignment. You don't want to lose points on your assignment because the AI generators were wrong!
To cite PowerPoints from class in APA, you will need the following information:
Creator Name. (Date). Name of presentation, italicized and capitalized sentence style [PowerPoint slides]. Canvas. Link to the PowerPoint in Canvas.
Bauer, S. (2025). How to format APA papers [PowerPoint]. Canvas. www.classes.iwcc.edu/linktopowerpoint
(Bauer, 2025).
When you interview someone for your writing, you will need to cite the person that you interviewed. All you need for the citation is their name and the date you interviewed them.
But.... APA says you do not have to include this on the Reference page*. You will use an in-text citation to show what information you obtained from your interview.
Example of an in-text citation for a personal interview.
Use the name of the person you interviewed - you'll use their first initial and their last name - and the date you interviewed them.
(J. Smith, personal communication, July 1, 2024)
*For those of you wondering why you don't include it on the Reference page, APA says it is because your personal communication with someone else cannot be looked up and accessed by other people, like you can access an article, book or movie.
